Quick take
An 18-inch stainless steel leader with a mini power grip line release and self-locating snap that frees hooked lines without tangling.
The Scotty #1180 is the Mini Power Grip Plus line release with an 18-inch leader, the compact-body option in Scotty's 18-inch range. Its stacking, self-locating snap lets several releases clip onto one line. Release tension is set by moving the line in or out of soft-padded jaws, and a tension adjuster doubles the holding power when more hold is needed. The body is streamlined so it stays clear of weeds and fouled line, which suits trolling setups where the line is held at depth until a fish hits.

Common questions
What leader length does the Scotty 1180 come with?
The Scotty 1180 comes with an 18-inch leader and a stacking, self-locating snap. Its full-size sibling, the 1171, uses the same 18-inch leader length, so the 1180 is the choice when you want the smaller Mini Power Grip Plus body with that length.
Does the Scotty 1180 have a tension adjuster?
Yes. The Scotty 1180 has a tension adjuster that doubles its holding power when more hold is needed. Otherwise the release tension is set by moving the line in or out of its soft-padded jaws, so line position controls how firmly the release grips.
What snap does the Scotty #1180 use?
The Scotty #1180 uses a stacking, self-locating snap on its 18-inch leader, which lets several releases stack on one line. The sibling Scotty #1181 uses a cannonball snap instead, so choose the 1180 when you want the self-locating stacking snap.
Is the Scotty 1180 a Mini Power Grip Plus?
Yes. The 1180 is the Mini Power Grip Plus, a compact line release with an 18-inch leader and a stacking, self-locating snap. The full-size Power Grip Plus with the same 18-inch leader is the 1171, so pick the 1180 when a smaller body matters.
