Quick take

A 4-pack of compact planer board line releases with soft pads and adjustable tension, tethering trolling lines to planer boards without snagging.

This is a four-pack of compact plastic line releases for trolling with planer boards. Each one grips the line between soft pads, and sliding the line deeper into or out of the jaws sets how much tension it takes to let go. A tension adjuster adds holding power when you need it, and the slim shape keeps it clear of weeds. It suits anglers running boards who want a small release in the 2-1/4 inch size.

Best for

Rigging a trolling spread with multiple lure lines fanned out
Trolling speed changes that require quick line releases
Keeping trolling lines clear of the boat or centerline

Skip if

You cast and retrieve; planer boards are for trolling only
You need heavy-duty releases for very large fish; these are compact

Strengths

Compact size minimizes drag on the line and board
Soft pads grip line without cutting or fraying
Tension is adjustable by moving the line in or out of the jaws

Trade-offs

Adjustable tension requires trial to dial in for each trolling speed
Plastic components break if dropped on hard decks
Designed for trolling spreads only, not for other rigging styles
