Quick take

A trap roller with large pivoting head and extended arm for retrieving crab and prawn traps from a boat.

The Scotty Trap-Ease 750 is a trap roller for crab and prawn fishing, with a pivoting head and a long arm that reaches out over the gunnel. The included 241 mount bolts to a flat deck or to the side of a gunnel or transom, and the roller also fits Scotty post rod mounts. It handles rope up to 1/2 inch in diameter and suits single-trap use by recreational boaters.

Best for

  • Commercial and recreational crabbing
  • Saltwater boats with deck or gunnel space
  • Single trap retrieval

Skip if

  • You fish only rod-and-reel and do not trap crab
  • Your boat lacks suitable mounting surface

Strengths

  • Large roller head reduces friction on rope during retrieval
  • Pivoting head adjusts to changing angles
  • Extended arm reaches over gunnel for protection

Trade-offs

  • Purpose-specific; no use for fishing without traps
  • Rope capacity limits use to 1/2 in diameter line
  • Requires mounting on boat deck or transom

  • Crab & shrimp
