Quick take

Eight-strand polyethylene braided line offering high breaking strength and superior knot retention compared to monofilament.

This Seaguar PE X8 is an eight-strand braided line in a multicolor finish, spooled as a 300 m length in the No. 2.5 size at 40 lb. A braid this thin for its strength suits anglers who want long casts and a direct feel on lures, and the multicolor look makes it easy to follow on the water. It is a fit for spinning reels on bass, walleye and similar freshwater work.

Best for

  • Fishing heavy cover or structure
  • Setting hooks in hard-mouthed fish
  • Fishing in windy conditions where thin line matters

Skip if

  • You prefer no-stretch monofilament
  • You fish only light lures

Strengths

  • Zero stretch allows direct feel of bottom and lures
  • 8-strand construction resists fraying and wind knots
  • Compact diameter lets you fit more line on the spool

Trade-offs

  • Visible multi-color design spooks fish in clear water
  • Braided line is heavier and harder to cast initially
  • Requires backing or monofilament leader for sensitivity
