Quick take
Complete pre-tied steel wire leaders with hooks and swivels for saltwater fishing.
This is a pre-tied wire leader rig with eight-strand steel wire under a nylon coating, about 40 inches long. It arrives with swivels, glow beads, a snap and size 12 hooks, so the terminal setup is already assembled. It suits anglers who fish for toothy species and want a wire leader ready to clip on. The set comes as a three-pack.
Best for
- Toothy fish like mackerel, jacks and bluefish
- Surf fishing from beach or pier
- Quickly changing terminal tackle
Skip if
- You want monofilament leaders for finesse presentation
- You fish fresh water
Strengths
- Steel wire resists teeth and sharp gill plates
- Nylon coating reduces visibility in clear water
- Ready-to-fish with swivels and beads already attached
Trade-offs
- Wire is stiff and less sensitive than monofilament
- Small hook size (#12) limits targeting of large fish
- Wire can kink if bent sharply during use
