Quick take
Mid-arbor aluminum fly reel pre-spooled for trout on weight-forward floating line.
This is a 5/6 weight fly reel with a CNC-machined aluminum frame in a gunmetal gray and black finish, weighing about 125 grams. It has a mid-arbor spool for quicker line pickup and less coiling, plus a disc drag for smooth resistance on a fish's run. It arrives spooled with backing, a weight-forward floating line and a 9-foot 5X leader, so a newer fly angler can head to trout water without buying line first.
Best for
- Beginners who want immediate fishing without spooling setup
- Trout streams and small rivers
- Anglers seeking quick line retrieval and low memory
Skip if
- You need specialized spool sizes for saltwater or big fish
- You prefer standard arbor reels for better backing capacity
Strengths
- Mid-arbor spool enables faster line retrieval than standard arbor
- Pre-spooled setup saves time; fish immediately from box
- Gunmetal finish and aluminum construction resist freshwater corrosion
Trade-offs
- Mid-arbor spool holds less backing for large fish runs
- Disc drag requires maintenance in saltwater or sandy conditions
- Weight class limited to modest freshwater species
