Quick take

Japanese precision spinning reel with high 6.0 gear ratio and lightweight resin frame for medium freshwater species.

This Shimano 21 Ultegra in the 2500SHG size is a compact spinning reel with a 6.0:1 gear ratio that picks up about 35 inches of line per handle turn. It weighs 8.7 oz and carries a drag that tops out at 9.8 lbs, with a practical working drag of 5.7 lbs. A resin rotor helps keep the build light for all-day casting with lighter lures. Anglers who want a quick-retrieve 2500-size reel for bass, panfish or trout will find it a natural fit.
