Quick take
Long-casting baitcasting reel for targeting sea bass and large predators in coastal areas.
The Shimano 20 Exsence BB 4000M HG pairs a 5.8 gear ratio with about 36.6 inches of line per handle turn, a moderate pace suited to long casts with rods over 9.5 feet. It weighs 9.9 oz and carries five ball bearings plus a roller bearing, with a drag that peaks at 24.3 lb. Anglers working large rivers and tidal flats for sea bass will find a carbon fiber handle and line capacity for nylon, fluorocarbon or braid.
Best for
- Large rivers and tidal flats
- Long-distance casting from the shore
- Targeting sea bass over structure
Skip if
