Quick take
A versatile 6 ft 6 in fiberglass casting rod with medium-heavy power and fast action for freshwater and light saltwater.
This 6'6" two-piece casting rod has a medium-heavy power and fast action, a combination that suits throwing mid-sized lures for bass and other freshwater species. It carries a 1/4 to 1 oz lure range and an EVA grip. The two-piece build makes it easier to carry and store.
Best for
- General stream, river, lake and light saltwater casting
- Anglers wanting durable fiberglass construction
- Multiple applications with one rod
Skip if
- You need a graphite rod for maximum sensitivity
- You fish only saltwater; stick with a dedicated saltwater rod
Strengths
- Fiberglass construction is tough and forgiving with mistakes
- Medium-heavy power and fast action suit varied lure types
- Aluminum oxide guides accept mono, fluorocarbon and braid alike
- EVA handle is comfortable and durable in salt and fresh water
Trade-offs
- Fiberglass is heavier than graphite; your arm tires faster
- Medium-heavy power is less sensitive than lighter actions
- Fast action concentrates flex in the tip, limiting feel in the middle of the rod
