Quick take
Mid-size spinning reel with propulsion spool lip design for longer casting distance and improved line management.
The Shimano FX 4000 FC is a front-drag spinning reel with a 5.2:1 gear ratio that picks up about 32 inches of line per crank. It carries a 19 lb max drag and weighs 11.3 oz, with a propulsion spool lip meant to ease casting and cut down on wind knots. Anglers stepping up to a mid-size spinning reel for bass, walleye or inshore work will find the 4000 size a familiar fit.
