Quick take
A size 4000 spinning reel with Shimano's robust X-Ship and Hagane gear for freshwater and light saltwater.
The Shimano Nasci in the 4000 size is a spinning reel with a 6.21 gear ratio and a 24-pound maximum drag. It holds 200 yards of 10-pound mono or 205 yards of 20-pound braid, and takes in about 39 inches of line per crank. Four shielded stainless bearings plus a roller bearing and Hagane gearing suit it to light freshwater work and on up to medium saltwater outings.
