Quick take

Shimano braided line with Tough Cross weave that delivers a tight, smooth line for medium to heavy jigging.

The Shimano Tanatoru 8 is an eight-carrier polyethylene braid spooled with 300 meters of line. Its five colors repeat every 10 meters, so an angler can see how much line is out at a glance while casting or setting a drag.

Best for

  • Saltwater jigging for medium to large species
  • Boat fishing where medium-heavy braided line is the standard
  • Anglers who want a recognized Japanese brand with proven performance

Skip if

  • You fish light finesse; 32 lb is too heavy
  • You fish freshwater only; Shimano line targets saltwater

Strengths

  • Shimano Tough Cross technology creates a tight, smooth braid that casts and jibs easily
  • 32 lb test handles solid species without excessive sensitivity loss
  • Multicolor pattern lets you gauge distance and depth during retrieves

Trade-offs

  • 32 lb is heavy for panfish and light freshwater applications
  • Multicolor pattern is distracting in clear water where solid colors blend better

  • Freshwater
  • Saltwater
