Quick take
Size 10/0 offset circle hooks with a light-wire wide-gap design for catch-and-release fishing.
This offset circle hook is made from high carbon steel for anglers after bass and catfish, with a closed eye and a point set out of line with the shank. Because its circle shape is meant to be set by steady reeling rather than a sharp rod jerk, it suits anglers who want to release fish. The 10/0 size is the largest of this family's three sizes.
Best for
- Live bait fishing where you want to hook the corner of the mouth
- Bottom rigs for catfish and saltwater species
- Situations where releasing fish alive is important
Skip if
- You need small hooks for panfish and finesse techniques
- You want standard straight-point J-hooks for artificial lures
Strengths
- Circle hook design hooks the corner of the mouth most strikes automatically
- Offset point penetrates quicker than straight-point circles
- Light wire and wide gap prevent fish from swallowing
Trade-offs
- You cannot set the hook the way you would with a J-hook
- 10/0 size is very large and limits bait and target species options
- High carbon steel requires rinsing and drying to avoid rust
