Quick take
Four-piece diamond files with dual grit for sharpening fishing hooks to needle-sharp points.
This set holds four diamond hook files, each with a fine side and a medium side for touching up dull points. A grooved face cradles the hook while you work, and the non-slip PVC handle gives a steady grip. At about 4 inches long, each file slips into a tackle bag, and the handle loop makes it easy to clip or store.
Best for
- Maintaining sharp hooks throughout a season
- Restoring dulled lure and jig hooks
- Quick touch-ups between fishing trips
Skip if
- You replace dull hooks instead of sharpening
- You fish with brand-new lures only
Strengths
- Diamond material cuts hardened steel without glazing
- Dual grit gives you fine and medium options
- Compact size fits in a tackle box
Trade-offs
- Requires correct angle to sharpen hook points effectively
- Diamond coating can scratch if used on non-metal objects
- Four files are sufficient for one angler but limited for multiple rods
