Quick take

Landing net with 21.7 in frame and rubber mesh for catching and controlling fish of all sizes.

The Smith LTD Rubber Net Short is a compact landing net with a black frame and clear blue rubber mesh. The frame measures 21.7 by 15.7 inches on a 19.7-inch short handle, which suits tight spots like boats, docks and shore edges. Rubber netting is a common pick for anglers who want a gentler surface against fish and fewer tangled hooks.

Best for

  • Shore and boat fishing in fresh and salt water
  • Handling slippery fish without harm
  • Catch-and-release angling

Skip if

  • You fish in very dense weeds; mesh can tangle
  • You need a larger frame for big ocean fish

Strengths

  • Rubber mesh does not snag or tangle in gill filaments
  • Mesh is gentle on fish scales and protective coating
  • Short handle fits easily in boat or tackle storage

Trade-offs

  • Rubber mesh degrades over time in saltwater
  • Short handle limits reach to distant fish or high banks
  • 21.7 in frame is medium; larger fish may escape
