Quick take
Heavy-duty split ring pliers with auto-open magnets and multi-function jaws for rigging and hook work.
A 7-inch angled-head split ring plier with serrated jaws for gripping hooks, opening small split rings, crimping split shot and tuning lures. Magnets in the rubber handle spring the jaws open when you let go, and the nickel-coated carbon steel body is meant for saltwater use. It comes with a belt-clip sheath and a coiled lanyard so the tool stays on you and off the bottom of the lake.
Best for
- Opening small split rings without finger pain
- Quick hook removal when a fish is deeply hooked
- Tournament fishing where speed matters
Skip if
- You prefer needle-nose pliers for precision work
- You fish only with circle hooks that rarely need removal
Strengths
- Auto-open magnets reduce hand fatigue on long days
- Serrated jaws grip wet tackle without slipping
- Rust-resistant coating holds up in saltwater
Trade-offs
- 7-inch length makes grip awkward for anglers with small hands
- Magnets can interfere with sensitive gear in boat electronics
- S45 steel requires occasional maintenance to prevent corrosion
Fishing fit
- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
