Quick take
A compact 9-foot 4-piece fly rod made of IM8 graphite with aluminum reel seat, cork grip and stainless steel guides.
This Sougayilang King Fisher is a 9-foot, four-piece fly rod in a 7-weight configuration, with a medium power and a fast action. It has a cork handle and a graphite blank, and the sections break down to a pack that is about 30 inches long. It suits an angler fishing trout and similar freshwater species who wants a rod that travels easily.
Best for
- Beginners learning fly fishing in small streams
- Anglers who travel and value a take-apart design
- Sunfish and small trout in shallow water
Skip if
- You fish large rivers where a longer rod is standard
- You need a rod that fishes nymphs at depth
Strengths
- 4-piece design fits easily in luggage for travel
- Lightweight and responsive for small trout
- Lifetime warranty backs the rod
Trade-offs
- 9 feet is short for large water and overhead presentation
