Quick take
8-foot medium-heavy fiberglass combo with stainless guides for catfish and steelhead.
This is an 8-foot, medium-heavy casting combo that pairs a two-piece glass-fiber rod with a conventional reel. The rod has stainless steel guides and a full-length cork handle. The medium-heavy power suits catfish, bass and trout, and the reel comes ready for 10 lb monofilament.
Best for
- Catfish fishing from bank or boat
- Steelhead and salmon rivers
- Beginners learning conventional reel use
Skip if
- You fish light line and small lures
- You need ultra-long casting distance
Strengths
- Full cork handle provides comfort during long battles
- Stainless steel guides resist saltwater and freshwater corrosion
- Medium-heavy power handles large catfish and steelhead
Trade-offs
- Fiberglass is less sensitive than graphite or carbon
