Quick take
A large capacity size 7000 spinning reel with 33 lbs drag and front and rear drag systems for heavy catfish, pike and carp.
The Sougayilang S331 in size 7000 is a large spinning reel with an aluminum build and seven stainless steel bearings. Its handle swaps between left and right, and it is set up for braided line. It suits anglers going after catfish, carp and pike from the bank or the surf in freshwater and light saltwater.
Best for
- Catfish and pike fishing in rivers and lakes
- Live bait fishing where drag is a priority
- Anglers who want redundant drag systems
Skip if
- You fish light tackle; 33 lbs drag and size 7000 are overkill
- You prefer simpler reels; dual drag systems add complexity
Strengths
- 33 lbs drag stops big catfish and pike
- Dual drag systems (front and rear) mean backup if one fails
- Size 7000 holds massive amounts of heavy braided line
Trade-offs
- Size 7000 is heavy to work with on a 5-6 ft rod
- Dual drag systems complicate adjustment and maintenance
- At 1 lb it is overkill for most freshwater fishing
