Quick take
A 5.5 inch soft hollow-body frog with sealed nose and internal rattle for weedless topwater fishing over heavy cover.
This Strike King KVD Baby Sexy Frog comes in the Black Shadow color, a dark hollow-body topwater frog. It is about 5.5 inches and 1/2 ounce, with a rattle and a weedless design for fishing through vegetation. Anglers who like a dark silhouette over matted cover or low light will find it a natural fit.
Best for
- Topwater frog action over lily pads, hyacinths and surface weeds
- Flipping and pitching into dense cover where bass hide
- Making commotion to trigger strikes from lunker bass
Skip if
- You fish open water where frog profile is not effective
- You need a lure that swims at depth rather than on the surface
Strengths
- Collapsible hollow body compresses on hookset for better penetration
- Sealed nose minimizes water entry that can impede floating
- Free-floating rattle creates noise to attract fish from distance
Trade-offs
- Weedless design and large profile make the frog difficult to cast on light line
- Soft body can tear if punctured by sharp cover or teeth
- Hollow body design makes the lure buoyant; sinks slowly if retrieved stopped

About this type
