Quick take
A 3/8 oz swim jig with a swinging hook eye that lets the trailer move independently for action.
This 3/8 oz swim jig in white pairs a streamlined, balanced head with a skirt that ripples as it moves and a hook that swings on an eye joint. Add a soft plastic trailer and retrieve it steadily for a swimming presentation aimed at bass and similar predators. A light weed guard and a keeper for the trailer round out the build.
Best for
- Skipping under overhangs and docks where bass hide
- Targeting bass in thicker cover with a moving trailer
- Slow swimming presentations over grass or rocks
Skip if
- You need to fish heavy vegetation very quickly
- You want a jig that keeps the trailer in a fixed position
Strengths
- Swinging hook eye lets the trailer move freely for natural action
- Flat-sided head skips cleanly under obstacles
- Gamakatsu needlepoint hooks penetrate on any strike
Trade-offs
- 3/8 oz is heavier and better for deep water than shallow cover
- Swinging joint may catch on vegetation and tangles
- Green pumpkin color is less visible in very dark water

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
