Quick take
Heavy-duty 2mm neoprene cover that protects fly reel spools and line from damage during casting and storage.
This is a slip-on neoprene sleeve for a fly reel, sized for spools between 2.5 and 3.5 inches across with a 1 to 1.5 inch arbor. The 2mm neoprene is light, at under an ounce, so it adds almost nothing to a pack. It suits fly anglers who want a snug cover over the reel and line while it rides in a bag or tackle box on the way to the water.
Best for
- Protecting fine fly lines from scratches
- Covering reels stored in tackle bags
- Small trout and panfish reels
Skip if
- Your reel spool is larger than 3.5 inches
- You need impact protection for reels dropped or bumped
Strengths
- Thick neoprene absorbs impacts better than thin covers
- Flexible fit accommodates varied spool widths and arbor sizes
- Stays in place during casting without shifting
Trade-offs
- Does not protect against major impacts or drops
- Limited to reels within the specified spool size range
- Neoprene can retain moisture if not dried before storage

- Freshwater
