Quick take
A simple wood line holder with elastic bands for organizing and managing tenkara line during fishing.
This is a pair of small wood line holders, about 30mm across, that attach to a tenkara rod with elastic rubber bands. Once the rod is collapsed, you wind the line around them and hook the fly in place so nothing tangles. It suits level and furled lines and fits anglers who pack light for backpacking and travel.
Best for
- Tenkara anglers managing furled or level lines
- Minimalist fly fishers using telescoping rods
- Collapsing your rod between drifts
Skip if
- You use standard fly reels and need reel storage
- You fish open water where line management is simple
Strengths
- Elastic bands grip lines securely without tangling
- Lightweight wood construction fits easily in vests or packs
- Simple design collapses with your rod for compact travel
Trade-offs
- Works only with tenkara and traditional-style fly fishing
- Rubber bands weaken over time and need replacement
- Limited to level or furled line management; not for spooled lines

- Freshwater
