Quick take
High-visibility balsa floats with brass grommets for delivering large live baits to deep structure.
This 5 inch Thill Big Fish Slider is a balsa float built for carrying large live or cut baits out to big fish. The orange and yellow top is easy to spot at a distance, and a brass grommet keeps the line moving smoothly. It suits anglers targeting bass, catfish, musky and pike in moving water, still water or offshore.
Best for
- Live bait presentations for large bass and pike
- Deep still water and slow-flowing creeks
- Saltwater fishing for tarpon and redfish
Skip if
- You prefer compact bobbers for panfish
- You fish shallow water where large floats are unnecessary
Strengths
- Orange and yellow top stays visible from distance across water
- Balsa wood naturally floats live baits with minimal weight resistance
- Brass grommet prevents line wear compared to painted bobbers
Trade-offs
- Large float size limits casting distance in wind
- Five fixed sizes mean selecting correct weight for your bait and depth
- Balsa wood deteriorates if not stored dry between seasons
