Quick take
Size 8 wet fly assortment in six colors designed to imitate baitfish in subsurface presentations for trout and salmon.
This is a dozen-fly assortment of minnow-style wet flies in six colors, tied on size 8 fly hooks. Each fly runs about 1.5 inches and sinks slowly, which suits swinging or stripping a baitfish profile through the water. Trout, bass and crappie anglers can use the set to cover several color options in one box.
Best for
- Nymphing and wet fly swings in streams
- Trout in deeper water and pocket water
- Early season fishing when water is cold and high
Skip if
- You need large saltwater flies; these are small
- You prefer single-pattern flies over assortments
Strengths
- Small size 8 hooks suit light tippets and selective fish
- Slowly sinking pattern works subsurface on the swing
- Six-color assortment covers most water conditions
Trade-offs
- Size 8 is small for large trout or salmon
- UV shine works best in clear water; less effective in dark water
- Soft dubbing may break apart after multiple fish

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
