Quick take

A blood-flavored dip bait in a 45 oz pail designed for channel catfish in freshwater.

Triple S Blood Dip Bait is a soft, scented dip bait made for channel catfish, sold in a 45-ounce pail. It was formerly sold under the Sonny's name and is still made in Farmington, Iowa. The blood flavor suits anglers who work a dip worm or sponge near the bottom for catfish.

Best for

Channel catfish in ponds and slow-moving rivers
Bottom rigs and rod holders during extended fishing sessions
Anglers fishing at night or in muddy water where scent attracts fish

Skip if

You fish clear water where visibility matters more than scent
You target species that respond to live or cut bait better than dip bait

Strengths

Strong blood flavor disperses in the water to attract catfish from distance
Large 45 oz pail contains enough bait for multiple fishing trips
Dip bait stays on the hook through casts and soaking

Trade-offs

Dip bait is messy to handle and leaves strong odor on hands and gear
Shelf life in a pail is limited once opened; must be sealed between trips
Works best in slower water where scent has time to disperse, not ideal for moving streams

Fishing fit

Species: Catfish
Water: Freshwater
Techniques: Bottom fishing
