Quick take
Hand-tied hi-lo rig for Northeast summer flounder, with teaser and primary hook.
This hand-tied hi-lo rig carries two size 3/0 black octopus hooks, each dressed with a white mylar teaser, on a 30 lb mono leader about 22 inches long. A ball-bearing swivel sits at the top and a duo-lock snap at the bottom takes the weight. It lets you fish one bait on the bottom and a second above it, a familiar setup for summer fluke and flounder in bays, harbors and nearshore water. This version comes as a 5 pack.
Best for
- Summer fluke fishing in bays and harbors
- Presenting bait along the bottom with a teaser above
- Anglers targeting selective flatfish
Skip if
- You fish deep offshore; rig is designed for shallow bays
- You use soft plastics only; this needs live bait for best results
Strengths
- Two-hook setup lets you present bait and attract with teaser
- White mylar teaser catches fish attention before they see bait
- BKK hook is strong and holds squid strips and sand eels
Trade-offs
- Hi-lo rigs snag more easily in rocks and shells
- Mylar teaser can foul in weeds if rigging over grass flats
- Requires live or fresh bait like squid or sand eel for best performance
