Quick take
A 12-pound nylon shock leader material in 30-meter coil for absorbing casting shock when using lightweight braided main line.
This 30 meter spool of nylon shock leader is rated at 12 lb, a size that fits lighter inshore and surf setups where a leader sits between braid and the lure. The natural clear color suits clear water, and the parallel-wound spool makes it easy to cut off the length a knot needs. Anglers who tie their own leaders will find plenty of material for repeated rigs.
Best for
- Saltwater casting with braided main line
- Reducing break-offs from powerful casting acceleration
- Building tapered leaders for saltwater species
Skip if
- You fish freshwater only
- You use heavier main line
Strengths
- Shock leader absorbs casting acceleration force
- Nylon has elasticity for better knot strength
- 30-meter coil provides material for multiple leader builds
Trade-offs

- Not suitable as main line on its own
