Quick take

Drop-shot hook that rotates freely to prevent line twist during vertical presentations.

The VMC Spinshot is a size 2 drop shot hook with a swivel set in the eye, so the hook turns as the rig is worked and the line can unwind instead of twisting. It is forged from vanadium steel with a black nickel finish and carries a Spark Point, and the line of sizes runs from 8 down to 2/0. Bass anglers who fish a drop shot with light line and small baits can match this size to their presentation.

Best for

  • Drop-shot rigging for finesse bass
  • Suspended presentations over structure
  • Stacking multiple hooks at different depths

Skip if

  • You use traditional palomar-knot drop-shot hooks
  • You prefer simpler rig setups

Strengths

  • 360-degree rotation eliminates line twist
  • Smoother hookups with reduced twist-off
  • Easy to rig with a loop knot

Trade-offs

  • Rotation design adds bulk compared to standard hooks
  • Requires learning a different rigging technique
  • Spinshot design may snag easier than traditional hooks
