Quick take
Spacious tackle backpack with built-in work surface and waterproof pocket.
The Wild River 3606 is a large tackle backpack that carries gear on your back so your hands stay free on the walk to the water. Its lower compartment takes four #3600-style trays, while the upper section has a removable divider for bulkier items. The front pocket cover folds down into a work surface for rigging, and padded straps with a sternum strap spread the load.
Best for
- Shore fishing with organized tackling up
- Anglers carrying four tackle trays
- Full-day fishing expeditions
Skip if
- Ultralight fishing where size is a concern
- Boat fishing with limited storage
Strengths
- Built-in work surface fold-down allows rigging without setting down gear
- Waterproof clear pocket keeps electronics dry and accessible
- Removable divider converts upper area for larger items
Trade-offs
- Large backpack becomes heavy when fully loaded with four trays
- Built-in work surface may get tangled in brush
- Tray-based storage requires purchasing compatible trays separately
