Quick take
Circle hooks in size 3/0 with wide gap for safer live-bait fishing.
This is a 50-count pack of black high carbon steel circle hooks in size 3/0, with an octopus-style curved point. The circle shape tends to set in the corner of the mouth, which suits live-bait fishing for catfish and striped bass. A mid-range size like 3/0 pairs well with medium baits when drifting or fishing a bait on the bottom.
Best for
- Live-bait presentations for catfish and stripers
- Catch-and-release fishing with reduced gut hooks
- Drifting and bottom rigs
Skip if
- You use artificial lures exclusively
- You need smaller hooks for panfish
Strengths
- Circle design automatically sets in corner of mouth
- Wide gap suits whole live baits and fresh chunks
- High carbon steel holds point through tough jaws
Trade-offs
- Wide gap requires proper hook set technique
- Curved point can foul in weeds near structure
- Size 3/0 is too large for small baits
