Quick take
Heavy-duty circle hooks for live baits and chunk baits in saltwater.
This is a 25-pack of size 5/0 stainless steel circle hooks with a 3X-strong build. The curved circle shape suits live or chunk bait rigs, where the hook tends to settle in the corner of the mouth. Anglers drifting or trolling for larger saltwater fish such as sailfish, tarpon or amberjack will find the size and strength a fit.
Best for
- Tarpon and big striped bass on live mullet
- Drifting live bait in deep water for snapper and grouper
- Overnight rigs with livewells
Skip if
- You fish freshwater where circle hooks are less common
- You need smaller sizes; 5/0 is large for small baits
Strengths
- Curved shape self-hooks as the fish turns its head away
- 3X-strong construction holds oversized live baits without bending
- Stainless material lasts through multiple trips in saltwater
Trade-offs
- Rounded point requires patience to set the hook
- Large size makes baiting difficult with tiny fish
- Circle hook design is less effective on strike-based techniques
