Quick take
A hybrid tube and grub with a flared skirt that swims away from you, suited for flipping and pitching.
The Yamamoto Fat Ika is a 4 inch soft plastic that pairs a grub-style body with a tube-style skirt. This pack holds 10 baits in dark pumpkin with large black flake. Anglers flip and pitch it to cover, often rigged skirt up on a Texas rig for a backward falling action.
Best for
- Flipping wood and vegetation for hidden bass
- Rigging on a shaky head or texas rig
- Dropping the bait vertically from cover
Skip if
- You need a finesse bait under 3 inches
- You fish open water; the skirt creates drag
Strengths
- Unique sashay action on the drop triggers strikes
- Tube skirt replicates crawfish or bluegill gills
- Extremely durable plastic withstands multiple fish
Trade-offs
- At 4 inches this is not a true finesse lure
- Skirt design works best in shallow cover
- Rigging requires practice to keep it centered

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
