Quick take
A compact soft plastic creature with three distinct appendages and riveted joints that create vibration and action on the fall or shake.
The Yamamoto Flappin' Hog is a 3.75-inch creature bait sold in a pack of 7, with three sets of appendages that flap and move as the bait falls and when it is shaken. Its appendages sit close to the body and a hollow section near the tail helps the hook pass through, which suits anglers working tight cover. It can be rigged on a Texas rig, a Carolina rig or a jig trailer, making it a practical choice for pitching and flipping.
Best for
- Flipping and pitching to cover and vegetation
- Getting through tight spaces without snagging
- Shaking vertically in deep holes or timber
Skip if
- You fish open water where a larger profile helps
- You prefer baits without excessive appendages
Strengths
- Appendages close to body allow threading through weeds
- Riveted joints vibrate during fall and shaking
- Hollow tail section aids hook penetration
Trade-offs
- Appendages can snag in dense vegetation if not worked carefully
- Compact size means shorter casting distance
- Multiple pieces make the bait fragile with repeated use

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
