Quick take

Clear nylon shock leader for offshore and light saltwater casting, 30 meters long, 12 lb rated.

YAMATOYO's clear nylon shock leader comes as a 30-meter spool of No. 3 line with a 12 lb strength rating, a practical choice for joining heavier mainline to lighter line. It is suited to offshore and inshore work on species such as sea bass, flounder, black bass, trout and mackerel. Its clear color and simple nylon construction make it an easy leader to tie into a rig.

Best for

  • Offshore fishing for mackerel and flounder
  • Light saltwater casting rigs
  • Anglers needing shock absorption

Skip if

  • You need heavier shock leaders for large fish
  • You fish freshwater

Strengths

  • Clear nylon is less visible to fish
  • 30-meter length provides adequate leader for most casting
  • Nylon absorbs rod shock better than fluorocarbon

Trade-offs

  • Nylon stretches, which reduces bite detection compared to fluorocarbon
  • 12 lb test is light for larger saltwater species
  • Package requires cutting to desired working length
