Quick take
Five-inch soft plastic swimbait with three tail configurations for variable fall rates and swimming actions.
The Yum Houdini Shad is a 5-inch, minnow-shaped soft plastic sold in a pack of 10, built for an erratic, twitching swim. Its tail can be left whole for a slow fall or trimmed to drop faster, which gives one bait more than one presentation. It can be fished as a swimbait or Texas-rigged with a nose weight, and it suits water where shad or other baitfish are struggling.
Best for
- Casting to structure in clear water
- Matching natural baitfish sizes
- Adjusting presentation to water clarity
Skip if
- You need a lure that stays afloat; this sinks
- You prefer pre-rigged baits with no setup
Strengths
- Three tail options change fall rate and action without switching lures
- Natural shad body shape mimics forage baitfish
- Erratic twitching motion when worked properly
Trade-offs
- Requires assembly or rigging with a jighead before use
- Open paddle tail configuration sacrifices castability for fall speed
- Durability varies by water clarity and fish species

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
