Quick take
A square-hoop floating net with rubber-coated mesh and telescopic aluminum handle, sized for big freshwater and saltwater fish.
This folding landing net pairs a square hoop with a rubber-coated mesh, a combination meant to keep hooks from tangling and to be gentle on fish you plan to release. Foam around the rim and handle keeps it afloat if it slips from your hand, and the aluminum telescopic pole extends to about 38.6 inches. It folds compact and clips to a belt or pack, which suits anglers who wade, hike in or fish from a kayak.
Best for
- Boat and kayak fishing
- Anglers who land fish quickly
Skip if
- You fish narrow streams or thick brush
- You want a compact net to backpack
Strengths
- Square shape gives you more netting per hoop size
- Floating foam rim means you can retrieve a dropped net
- Rubber-coated mesh is snag-free and gentle on fish
Trade-offs
- At 38.6 in square, this is a very large net
- The telescopic handle is less rigid than fixed options
- Big size means you need two hands to maneuver it
