Quick take
A lifelike paddle-tail swimbait in three sizes with a molded hook slot for weedless rigging.
This is the 5-inch Z-Man DieZel MinnowZ, a paddle-tail soft swimbait molded from ElaZtech and sold in a pack of 4. A molded hook slot and dorsal-fin pocket let it rig weedless on a swimbait hook, so it can be pulled through grass and cover. It suits bass and other fresh- or saltwater anglers who want a minnow profile that swims at a range of retrieve speeds.
Best for
- Casting over weed and vegetation where the soft body slides past cover
- Trolling behind a boat to cover water quickly
- Bass and pike fishing in freshwater or saltwater
Skip if
- You want a hard-bodied swimbait that produces flash without soft give
- You need a swimbait designed for finesse techniques
Strengths
- Soft ElaZtech plastic swims at all retrieve speeds with lifelike action
- Hook slot and dorsal fin pocket allow weedless rigging without reducing hooksets
- Durable construction withstands repeated casts through thick cover
Trade-offs
- Softer plastic is less durable than hard swimbaits against sharp rocks or shells
- Requires appropriate jig head weight to achieve desired depth and speed
- ElaZtech absorbs some light, so color choice matters in low-light water

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
