Quick take
Five 4-inch segmented swimbaits with a thin paddle tail, scented for inshore saltwater and freshwater.
The Z-Man Scented PaddlerZ is a 4-inch paddle-tail swimbait with a segmented body and thin tail that wobbles on both fast and slow retrieves. It comes in packs of five in the Sexy penny color and can be rigged on a 3/0 jighead, a weighted hook or an umbrella rig. Anglers working saltwater flats and inshore water, as well as freshwater anglers using it as a swim jig trailer or for topwater work through grass, will find it a versatile option.
Best for
- Inshore redfish and speckled trout on light jigs
- Buzzing through grass as a topwater bait
- Rigging on swim jigs or small jig heads
Skip if
- You fish deep water; these are designed for shallow presentations
- You need large profile swimbaits; this is a 4-inch bait
Strengths
- Segmented body creates subtle movement on any retrieve speed
- ElaZtech material resists tearing better than standard soft plastics
- Scent impregnation attracts fish over wider distances
Trade-offs
- The thin tail may tear after multiple strikes
- Scent washes out with use; effectiveness decreases over time
- Small size limits it to inshore species and smaller saltwater fish

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
