Quick take
A 3 in soft shrimp with scent impregnation and weedless hook slot for finesse presentations.
The Z-Man Scented ShrimpZ is a 3-inch soft bait with a lifelike upright shrimp shape, sold in packs of five in New Penny. Its soft ElaZtech body is buoyant, so it rides above the bottom between hops. Rig it on a jighead or with a weedless hook, then hop it along the bottom or under a popping cork for bass, redfish or trout.
Best for
- Saltwater species like redfish and speckled trout
- Finesse jigging presentations under a popping cork
- Anglers who want soft baits that hold together
Skip if
- You fish only freshwater panfish
- You need larger baits for pike or musky
Strengths
- ElaZtech material is 10X tougher than standard plastics, resists tearing
- Natural upright body profile mimics real shrimp swimming
- Weedless hook slot allows easy rigging and quick hooksets
Trade-offs
- 3 inches limits its appeal to smaller predators
- Shrimp shape most effective in saltwater applications
- Scent fades with use and can mask other attractants

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
