Quick take
A floating mesh basket with orange floats that keeps live bait accessible while allowing full water circulation for oxygenation.
A collapsible floating bait pen that rides on the surface beside a kayak, canoe or boat, keeping live minnows, shrimp or crayfish in the water until you need them. Orange floats and a long tether make it easy to spot, and the drawstring top keeps the catch from escaping. The mesh is open enough for water to flow through, and the frame folds flat into a storage bag for the trip home.
Best for
- Keeping live minnows fresh through a long trip
- Kayak and boat fishing with easy access to bait
- Crabbing and shrimping as well as fish bait
Skip if
- You use artificial lures only
- You need enclosed storage for preserved bait
Strengths
- Multiple floats keep the basket visible and accessible on the water
- Mesh holes are small enough to hold tiny bait but large enough for water flow
- Drawstring prevents escape while allowing quick access
Trade-offs
- Bait can still get stressed in warm water
- Collapsible frame is flexible; doesn't protect delicate bait from crushing
- Mesh snags on rough dock edges and rocks

- Freshwater
- Saltwater
