Quick take
A collapsible trap with 6 conical entrances for catching minnows, shrimp, crab, and small crawfish.
This collapsible bait trap takes minnows, shrimp, crab and crawfish, with a nylon net over a steel-bar frame that folds flat for carrying. The 6-hole version has a round shape, opens to about 58 by 22 cm and has cone entrances of 10 to 15 cm each. A zipper opens to remove the catch, and the trap folds down for storage.
Best for
- Capturing live bait in coastal areas and shallow water
- Trapping minnows for pike and musky fishing
- Catching crab and shrimp for chum or bait
Skip if
- You prefer cast nets for live bait
- You want a trap for large lobsters or crawfish
Strengths
- Collapsible design folds flat for easy transport and storage
- Multiple 6-inch entrance holes funnel prey inward; they cannot escape
- Zipper allows quick removal of caught baitfish
Trade-offs
- Nylon mesh can fray and tear after repeated use
