Quick take
Soft-plastic buzz toads with vibrating feet designed to skitter across surface vegetation and lily pads.
The Zoom Horny Toad is a 4 1/4 inch topwater frog for anglers who want bass to find a bait in heavy cover. Its soft, ridged feet make a pitter-patter sound on the surface as it moves. Built for a weedless hook, it can be worked through lily pads and grass or thrown over open water as a search bait.
Best for
- Bass in heavy cover like lily pads and grass
- Topwater fishing in shallow ponds and lakes
- Frog fishing on high-weed flats
Skip if
- You fish open water
- You need a lure that sinks
Strengths
- Hollow-body design skitters naturally over thick weeds without snagging
- Vibrating feet create disturbance and attract aggressive bass
- Weedless hook reduces frustrating snags
Trade-offs
- Soft plastic wears out quickly; 5-pack won't last long
- Weedless hook is less reliable on hooksets than exposed hooks
- Works best in warm-water seasons when bass are in shallow cover

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
