Quick take
12-inch soft plastic worm with a flapping swimming tail for Texas and Carolina rigs.
The Zoom Magnum Ol' Monster is a 12-inch soft plastic worm sold in packs of five, built as the larger version of the original 10.5-inch Ol' Monster. Its slender body and large curled tail give it a lot of swimming action, and it is salt-impregnated. Anglers reach for it when they want a big profile on a Texas or Carolina rig.
Best for
- Bass holding in vegetation or shallow cover
- Dragging along bottom edges
- Slow presentations that emphasize tail action
Skip if
- You fish open water where subtle presentations work better
- You need worms for finesse drop-shot rigs
Strengths
- Large swimming tail creates vibration and water displacement
- Salt content increases fish hold time on the hook
- Works in both Texas and Carolina rig setups
Trade-offs
- 12-inch length limits casting distance on light line
- Tail snags easily in thick cover and weeds
- Large size attracts smaller fish than intended species

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
