Quick take
Five sputnik sinkers from 3 to 5 ounces with stainless steel legs that dig into sand and hold bottom.
This is a pack of five 3 oz lead sputnik-style sinkers, a spider-type weight made for casting from the beach. The wire legs are meant to bite into sand so the rig stays put in the surf. It suits surf casting, ocean fishing and catfish fishing with a rod and line.
Best for
- Surf casting in strong current or deep water
- Catfish and carp fishing on bottom rigs
- Beach and ocean fishing where sinkers must stay in place
Skip if
- You fish shallow water or light current
- You need compact weights for distance casting
Strengths
- Stainless legs grip sand and mud to resist current
- Range of weights handles different depths and conditions
- Electrolytic lead is dense for the compact size
Trade-offs
- Legs can snag on rocky bottom or debris
- Heavy 5 oz sinker limits distance on light rods
- Lead sinkers require environmental consideration

- Saltwater
