Quick take

A soft, moldable floating dough bait scented with Berkley's PowerBait formula, designed for trout in lakes, rivers, and streams.

Berkley PowerBait trout dough is a soft, moldable bait with a natural fragrance, designed to float so it rides above the bottom in drift, float and ground-mount setups. Its biodegradable formula is meant to break down naturally in the water. Anglers can shape it to resemble the natural food trout feed on, whether they fish lakes, rivers or streams.

Best for

  • Trout under a float in ponds and lakes
  • Drift and float fishing in streams
  • Anglers who want a moldable bait they can shape around the hook

Skip if

  • You need sinking bait for the bottom
  • You fish fast currents where floating baits wash away

Strengths

  • Floating design keeps bait suspended in the water column for easy visibility
  • Soft, moldable texture lets you customize the bait shape
  • Biodegradable formula reduces environmental impact

Trade-offs

  • Dough baits attract unwanted species in mixed waters
  • The float action requires specific rigging to work as intended
  • Visibility in colored water is limited
