Quick take
A 9 foot medium-power rod with IM8 carbon construction for salmon and steelhead in rivers.
This 9-foot one-piece spinning rod from BERRYPRO pairs a slim IM8 carbon blank with a fast action and medium power. A split cork grip and ceramic-insert stainless guides round out the build. It suits anglers working walleye, salmon and steelhead from shore who want reach for long casts at a light 6.6 ounces.
Best for
- Salmon and steelhead in rivers and coastal streams
- Long-range casting with medium lures and spoons
- Intermediate anglers moving up from shorter rods
Skip if
- You fish small streams; too long and powerful
- You need a rod for panfish and sunfish
Strengths
- 9 feet reaches distance across wide rivers
- IM8 carbon is light and sensitive without sacrificing durability
- Fast action helps with setting hooks on long casts
Trade-offs
- 9 feet is long; difficult to manage in tight brush
- Medium power is firm; not ideal for delicate techniques
