Quick take
Foldable trap net for catching small baitfish and crustaceans, with rope and float included.
This is a collapsible bait and crawdad trap built around a round, black rubber-coated nylon net about 31.5 by 23.6 inches. Its fine mesh suits catching minnows, shrimp, crayfish and small crabs from a pier, bridge or lake bank. It comes with a bait bag, a 49-foot hand rope, a float and a storage bag, and it folds down small to carry. Anglers who need live bait or want to trap crayfish without hauling a bulky cage will find it easy to pack.
Best for
- Catching crayfish, shrimp, and minnows
- Bridge and pier fishing
- Fresh water bait gathering
Skip if
- You need a net for boat netting large fish; use a landing net
- You fish saltwater regularly; freshwater trap nets tangle in salt
Strengths
- Rubber-coated nylon is tough and fish-friendly without scratching
- Small mesh catches baitfish as small as minnows and shrimp
- Complete kit includes rope, float, and bait bag for immediate use
Trade-offs
- Design is made for stationary placement, not active casting
- 0.6 x 0.4 cm mesh clogs with silt and weeds in murky water
- Folds small but takes time to set up and deploy
