Quick take
Shrimp-scented bait strips with embedded fiber mesh that holds together through multiple casts and works fresh or on jigs.
This pink and chartreuse shrimp-scented strip is a cut-to-size saltwater bait, 12 inches long and half an inch wide. A mesh layer through the middle helps it stay on the hook, so it suits surf casting, pier fishing and jigging. Cut a piece to fit a bare hook or use it as a trailer on a jig or skirted lure.
Best for
- Surf and pier fishing
- Jigging for inshore saltwater species
- No-cooler bait-and-tackle days
Skip if
- You prefer whole live shrimp
- You fish exclusively freshwater
Strengths
- Fiber mesh holds the strip intact through casts and catches
- Shrimp scent releases in the water column
- No refrigeration needed between trips; store at room temperature
Trade-offs

About this type
A lure is an artificial bait that draws a strike with its shape, color and movement.
Each kind is built for certain depths and ways of fishing.
Weight decides how far a lure casts and what rod and line it needs; color changes how visible it is in the water.
