Quick take
A three-claw fish gripper that opens and closes with one-handed operation to secure fish for handling, weighing, or photographing.
This is the single three-claw fish gripper in the family, a metal and ABS tool for holding a fish by the mouth while you unhook, weigh or photograph it. Its claws close to a 0.6-inch closed mouth, and the tool folds to about 4.3 inches, so it fits a tackle box, pack or pocket. You press the handle to open the claws and release to clamp, which leaves one hand free. The two-pack listing uses the same design, so this one suits an angler who wants one gripper.
Best for
- Quick fish handling without puncturing gills or scales
- Weighing and photographing before release
- Saltwater and freshwater species from panfish to larger bass
Skip if
- You need a gaff for large saltwater fish
- You prefer traditional landing nets
Strengths
- Three-claw design distributes pressure to minimize injury
- Compact folding stores easily in tackle box or pocket
- Metal and ABS construction resists corrosion in saltwater
Trade-offs
- Gripper is less stable than a net for holding flailing fish
- Folding mechanism may wear and become loose over time
- One-handed operation requires dry grip strength

- Water
- Freshwater
- Saltwater
